Gold buried in your backyard still suffers counterparty risk from innovation. If humans figure out a cheap way to mass-produce gold in a lab, its reign as money is over. #Bitcoin is the only money free of counterparty risk. Therefore, it will continue outcompeting all others.

Bitcoin ETFs can not come soon enough. There is no reason that I've seen so far to view Bitcoin as anything other than the USD from a currency perspective, or $GLD from an asset perspective.
