16) And to the thousands, or maybe just hundreds, who will be with us through the next stage of our adventure. And, to gopher, who is trying his hardest not to bark every time a new colleague shows up for Thanksgiving dinner.

11) Everything, in the end, is my fault, if it goes poorly. That's what it means to be CEO. It doesn't matter if it's Thanksgiving; those blocks won't chain themselves.

2) We tend to think about teams differently from many companies. For instance, here's our dev team, lead by Gopher (bottom), about 15 minutes before our company shoes up to Thanksgiving Dinner.

5) And the expenses? They're paying ~$4b/year in expenses. ~60% of that is 'Tech' or 'G&A', both of which seem to probably most be headcount? There are ~2.7k full-time employees, so ~$1m/year/FTE.

6) But the most interesting is 'Other operating expenses', a cool $500m/year. And those seem to be user compensation from downtime. That's a lot of user compensation!

2) First, how have they (and others!) done recently? Well, they're the yellow line. They had a mediocre Q3, but they're probably in line for a good Q4!

3) So how did they do? Well, they made $1.2b of revenue and $600m of EBITDA. As always, that is nearly all retail; average retail fees were 1%. On the mobile app, average fees were probably higher, and that was probably where most of it came from.

Great trip to Chicago speaking at the #FIAExpo with @WaltFIA. Even more excited to get a few weeks back home to work. Sorry I’ll missing y’all in Lisbon, though!

20) Anyway, my main takeaways are: a) Aim high, but don't forget to do everything you can to actually reach your lofty goals. b) Watchmen: episode 3 ("She Was Killed by Space Junk") is beautifully scripted and executed.

2) "Two vast and trunkless legs of stone Stand in the desert. . . . Near them, on the sand, Half sunk a shattered visage lies... And on the pedestal, these words appear: My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings; Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair! Nothing beside remains."

11) My favorite pitch from the era was the one that ended the 2012 season: @SergioRomo54 striking @MiguelCabrera out looking on an 89 MPH "fastball" down the middle. His frisbee slider was so unhittable that year that a meatball could complement it. youtube.lurkmore.com/watch?v=Zjtoh8hl…
